If you ask me, both options are really good. One has an advantage over the other. With RV auctions, you get to choose from a lot of inventory of RVs, and be able to select one that really appeals to you. Auctions are fun and exciting, and winning definitely makes the RV all the more precious to you because you practically fought for its ownership. However, you need to bring hard cold cash for your payment, because that’s the mode of payment in almost all auctions. In addition, all sold items are considered closed deals, meaning, they cannot be returned if you discover that the RV you won is actually a lemon.

On the other hand, a used RV for sale by owner is a great way for you to save big, and get the RV you typically want. With a little creative persuasion, you can convince an owner to accept installments as your mode of payment, but most owners usually prefer cash. Another advantage is, you have more time to investigate and inspect the RV before cutting a deal. Unlike in auctions where you only have a limited time for inspection, here it’s different. You can take the time to look over the RV to your satisfaction. However, there are owners that are dishonest and won’t disclose important information regarding the RV, like history of accidents and such. So either way, whether you buy an RV from an auction or from an owner, you run into some risks because that’s just the way life is.
